You can spend an hour cleaning and still move dirt around. These three habits are the most common ones our cleaners see.
1. Wiping counters in circles
Circular wiping spreads crumbs and grime around instead of lifting them. Use straight, overlapping strokes from the back of the counter toward the edge, and fold your cloth to a clean side as you go.
2. Cleaning glass without a plan
Spraying a whole mirror or shower door and wiping at random leaves streaks. Work in small sections from top to bottom with a clean, dry microfibre cloth.
3. Vacuuming too fast
A quick pass picks up surface dust and leaves the dirt deeper in the carpet. Slow, overlapping passes pick up more, especially in high-traffic areas like hallways and in front of the sofa.
